Wisata Kuliner Tanjung Pandan
When night falls, the Jalan Sriwijaya and central market area becomes an open-air food market. Mie Belitung, gangan soup, sauced crab, and Kong Djie coffee are all within walking distance.
Tanjung Pandan during the day is a polite, orderly town. But when the sun sets, its character changes completely. Along Jalan Sriwijaya and around the central market, dozens of carts and tent stalls appear. Small neon lights turn on, charcoal smoke hangs low, and the aroma of grilled fish mixes with peanut sauce and shrimp paste chili. This is the real Tanjung Pandan, and every night the show is always full.
Three dishes must be tried. First, mie Belitung. Round yellow noodles in thick shrimp broth, with fried tofu, fresh cucumber, and melinjo crackers. The most legendary stall is Mie Belitung Atep, where the queue sometimes spills onto the pavement. Second, gangan. This is a spicy sour fish soup, the most authentic dish of Belitung's Malay community. Third, evening seafood at restaurants like RM Fega. Fresh crab with oyster or Padang sauce, Hong Kong-style steamed grouper, squid cooked in its own ink. End the night with black Kong Djie coffee. After all that, you will understand why Belitung people are never in a hurry to go home after sunset.
