Explorer Tarsius: Afternoon Eco Tour 1

Explorer Tarsius: Afternoon Eco Tour

An afternoon trek up Bukit Peramun, sunset over local dishes on Ampar Rock, then a night search for the tarsier, Belitung's tiny primate, in its own forest.

Duration: 1D0N

There is a side of Belitung you cannot see from a boat. As the sun drops, the Bukit Peramun forest changes. The air cools, the insects start up, and the island's shyest resident wakes: the tarsier, a palm-sized primate with huge round eyes that only comes out at night.

Explorer Tarsius is an afternoon eco tour led by local guides who know this forest well. You will take an easy trek past Twin Rock, climb to Ampar Rock for sunset over a spread of local dishes, then head back down after dark to look for tarsiers in their natural habitat. Quiet, close to nature, and hard to forget.

Every guest also adopts a tree. A small part of your trip goes toward protecting the forest the tarsiers call home, so the next generation still gets to see them.
